OPIRC Study Center Now Open!
The OPIRC Scholar Study Center in the Price Science Commons is now open! This designated study area is in the Science Library adjacent to the B040 classroom and is furnished with tables, seating, and whiteboards. 2024 HP Site Visit – Application Closed

$1M Workforce Ready Grant will expand Scholarships and Training for OPIRC Scholars
The Knight Campus Graduate Internship Program has been awarded a Workforce Ready: Innovation in Workforce Programs Grant totaling $1,039,835 to support a pathway for low-income students to enter the high-tech and manufacturing sectors. Funding will expand the $4.3M NSF Oregon Pathways to Industry Research Careers program which supports students as they move from community college to UO for their baccalaureate and master’s from the Knight Campus Graduate Internship Program. Applications are now open to be an NSF OPIRC Mentor! We are currently recruiting mentors for community college scholars and UO juniors (who have transferred from community college). Mentors have an opportunity to make a strong, positive impact on another individual’s career trajectory, as well as a stipend and establish a marketable skill set that may be showcased in their own trajectory. A break during the 2023 Undergraduate Research Symposium on the UO campus, was a perfect opportunity to bring the OPIRC scholars and community together. The hosted luncheon was held on the Knight Campus balcony and took advantage of the opportunity to bring scientists and engineers together.  OPIRC scholars, associates, and potential applicants were able to meet and network with UO staff and KCGIP alumni who shared their experiences on their own path to industry careers. UCC Celebrates OPIRC Scholars and Associates
Umpqua Community College recently organized the Science Careers Celebration, an event dedicated to honoring graduating transfer students, welcoming new scholars to OPIRC, and fostering interest in science-based professions. Attendees included friends, family, and community members who were invited to this remarkable evening affair. The Knight Campus Graduate Internship Program (KCGIP), an accelerated master’s program which includes a 9-month paid internship, has a long history of launching the careers of scientists and engineers.
