First Internfest a Success
In early January students and advisors convened from Umpqua, Lane and Central Oregon Community Colleges to learn about the Oregon Pathways to Industrial Research Careers (OPIRC) program. The event, dubbed Internfest, builds community and rapport amongst community college students headed to UO for degrees in physics, chemistry and biochemistry.
Programming for the day included:
- Introductions of attendees
- SMART goals workshop followed by a goal setting session with the OPIRC Mentors
- Networking lunch with OPIRC trivia
- Tours of the
- Phil & Penny Knight Campus for Accelerating Scientific Impact: The building where most of the scholars MS level coursework will take place during their final year at UO in the Knight Campus Graduate Internship Program
- Center for Advanced Materials Characterization in Oregon: World-class research facilities that many of the OPIRC scholars will use during pursuit of their MS degrees
